Dr. Sam Babbitt

Dr. Sam along with his wife Dr. DeNae founded Fork Union Animal Clinic in 1992. He has 2 children - Isaac and Alejandra.
Dr. Sam is active in community organizations and has served on the board of directors of the Fluvanna Arts Council, Chamber of Commerce, Housing Foundation, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and Planning Commission. He loves the outdoors, golf, poker, Nascar racing, Virginia Tech sports, and music. He can be found playing music and singing at local events or camping out at a bluegrass festival with his mandolin and vintage Martin Guitar.
Dr Sam has a special interest in orthopedic surgery and laser surgery. Dr Sam really enjoys cruciate ligament rupture repair and complex fracture repair and has years of experience in orthopedic surgery.



         
Dr. DeNae Babbitt

Doctor DeNae along with her husband Dr. Sam founded Fork Union Animal Clinic in 1992. Dr. DeNae is an active member of the Palmyra Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
She enjoys her ministry work and taking care of thier 2 young children, Isaac and Alejandra. She enjoys reading, cooking and taking long walks.  While she certainly appreciates Dr. Sam's Bluegrass since much of her family is from Wise County in Southwest Virginia, her favorite dancing music is 70's Funk.   Dr. DeNae's tender loving care for her clients and patients is extraordinary.

Dr Sam and Doctor DeNae have 2 cats - Taxi, and Packard and 1 dog - Shelby Lynn




Dr. Kim Smyth

Dr. Smyth is the newest addition to our team of veterinarians.
After Graduating from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, she practiced for several years in Bucks County, PA. She moved to Charlottesville in 2007 and is happy to make Fork Union Animal Clinic her new home away from home.
She has a special interest in dermatology and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Smyth lives in Charlottesville with her husband Matt, her dog Katie and her two crazy cats, Joe and Charlie.

Dr. Smyth is due to have her first child this June. The as yet unnamed baby boy will be a welcomed addition to our family. Dr. Smyth will be taking an extended maternity leave but we look forward to her return this fall. 




  

               
Dr. Dawn Johnson



Dawn was born in Indiana and early on her family moved to NC.  Upon graduation from high school in western NC she began her college degree, but soon decided to forego her studies for a commitment to the United States Army.  While in the Army, Dawn obtained her paratrooper wings and returned to NC as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division for the duration of her time in service. 

After the military, Dawn returned to college at UNC-Charlotte & obtained her BS in Biology in 2005.  She was then accepted to Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine & is a member of the 2009 graduating class. 

We are thrilled to have Dr. Johnson here at Fork Union Animal Clinic and look forward to a long and wonderful association together!

She has a special interest in geriatric medicine as well as orthopedics  & ophthalmology.  Dawn shares her home with her Rottweiler -Maximus, as well as her 3 cats -Pipp, Kenny, & Smitty.  She will have to left her goats behind in Mississippi, but still holds a special place in her heart for small ruminants. In her spare time she enjoys running, cross training, & reading.
