Veterinary Emergency Treatment Fund

The doctors and staff of Fork Union Animal Clinic are concerned about the numbers of family pets and stray animals that are denied emergency medical treatment due to the financial limitations of their owners. In 1998 we established the Veterinary Emergency Treatment Fund to address this growing problem. The generous donations of our clients, friends, and neighbors in the surrounding area are used to provide for the care of these animals that may otherwise go without treatment.  Our hospital will match all donations made to this fund with a 10% contribution.

This is a very expensive endeavor that is constantly in need of additional funding. We are asking any interested client and citizen to donate money specifically to this fund.

We have established several guidelines for the use of these funds.

·        Animals selected for care will be at the sole discretion of the attending veterinarian.

·        Preferential treatment will be given to the care of children’s pets, the elderly’s pets and stray animals.

·        Treatment will be given for the immediate care of the animal’s condition or disease (i.e. splints, medications, surgeries, lab tests). Chronic or life long diseases will not be eligible due to cost constraints, so that the available funds can be stretched further.

·        In order to reduce the administrative costs, this is NOT a tax deductible contribution.

·        Money will not be used to cover returned checks or any other type of bad debt.

·        We will ask that the amount covered by the fund be repaid if and when it is possible for the owner of the patient, so that another pet may benefit in the future. However, this will not be a requirement for acceptance.

·        All donations will go 100% to the care of pets. There will be no administrative fee taken from this fund.

Every year our generous clients and friends are kind enough to bring our staff and doctors thank you gifts; this especially common at holiday times. We are asking that our clients consider a donation to this fund in lieu of gifts. It would give us great pleasure to see those gifts being put to use helping needy pets.

Please also consider a donation to this fund in the name of a deceased pet of your own or a friend or family member’s pet. We can not think of a greater way to honor their memory.

If you have any questions about this program please call or stop by.

Please make donation checks payable to: FUAC-VETF
